CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–April 10, 2017.  Chicago’s 49th Ward Alderman Joe Moore invites you to the next monthly meeting of the 49th Ward Democratic Party as we welcome Jack Darin, Director of the Sierra Club in Illinois.  The meeting will take place on Monday, April 17th, 7:00 p.m., at the Loyola Park Fieldhouse, 1230 W. Greenleaf (2nd floor) in Chicago.

In his first 80 days as President, Donald Trump already has proven to be an unmitigated disaster for the environment. Here are just a few examples:

Trump appointed a climate change denier as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; issued an executive order to begin the process of repealing several Obama-era policies tackling the climate crisis and protecting clean air and water; proposed a budget that outlines deep cuts to U.S. science and environmental agencies—notably EPA and NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration—in an effort to increase defense spending by $54 billion; announced the elimination of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative; and removed the word “science” from the mission statement of the EPA’s Office of Science and Technology.

This is just a small sample of Trump’s many disastrous environmental policy initiatives. The National Geographic Magazine is compiling a running list. To view it, click here.

Jack will discuss Trump’s anti-environment agenda, its impact on Illinois and the nation and what we can do to stop it, including several upcoming rallies and marches.
