More Than 500 Young Adults Attend Rep. Kelly’s Youth Job and Resource Expo

MATTESON–(ENEWSPF)–April 18, 2016.  More than 500 young people from the South Suburbs and Chicago attended Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s annual Youth Job and Resource Expo on Saturday at Thornwood Township High School in Harvey.

“The job fair brought out hundreds of enthusiastic young people who were eager to find summer work,” Rep. Kelly said. “I was pleased to provide this opportunity to connect young people with employers, as well as with youth agencies that offer valuable training and resources.”

Representatives from nearly 50 companies and agencies with active job openings participated in the fair. Young men and women between the ages of 15 and 24 applied for jobs and internships with employers such as Nike, Chase Bank, Walgreens, True Star and the Chicago Zoological Foundation. Organizations and agencies such as Aunt Martha’s and Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership also offered a variety of youth services and programs.

Prior to the Expo, Rep. Kelly sponsored three Job Readiness Boot Camps that helped young people prepare for the hiring event and job interviews.

Congresswoman Kelly hosts youth job fairs each spring to provide an opportunity for young people to apply for summer jobs and find resources for future employment and work skill development.
