National Veterans Art Museum to Screen POSTER GIRL on Saturday, November 17

CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—November 13, 2012.  The National Veterans Art Museum will host a screening of the Oscar and Emmy-nominated documentary film Poster Girl on Saturday, November 17 at the Pritzker Military Library, 104 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, beginning at 1 p.m.  The film screening will be followed by an audience discussion moderated by U.S. Navy veteran Lynn Hauser of Performance Partners in conversation with PTSD counseling specialist Johanna Buwalda and combat veteran Crystal Colon. A coffee reception will follow the discussion.

POSTER GIRL is the documentary account of “all-American girl” and Army gunner Robynn Murray, who returned from the Iraq War alienated, burned out and suffering from PTSD. It chronicles Robynn’s journey from hell to healing with poignancy and depth.

There is a fee of $5.00 at the door, which includes admission to the Pritzker Military Library.

This event is proudly co-sponsored by the Chicago Women’s Caucus for Art, the Portraits of American Veterans Project, and The Transition Network – Chicago chapter.

The National Veterans Art Museum is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and exhibition of art inspired by combat and created by veterans. No other gallery in the world focuses on the subject of war from an artistic perspective, making this collection truly unique. The National Veterans Art Museum addresses both historical and contemporary issues related to military service in order to give patrons of all backgrounds insight into the effects of war and to provide veterans an artistic outlet to work through their military and combat experiences.
