Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Looking for furniture, jewelry, or a book to read at a good price? Check out One More Thing, a resale shop located in downtown Park Forest. One More Thing is owned by the South Suburban Family Shelter, a government funded organization that benefits domestic violence victims and homeless women and children. Its administrative office is located in Homewood.

“We are affectionately called the Marshall Fields of Park Forest, said manager Sharon Korthauer.” The well organized array of used and brand new merchandise includes standard retail store departments such as children, women, pretty plus, men, linens, houseware, furniture, sportswear and equipment, purses, accessories and shoes at nominal costs.

One More Thing chose to open its Park Forest location at 343 Main Street seven years ago because of the closeness to Western Avenue and the community. Both manager Sharon Korthauer and assistant manager Connie Molthan are part-time employees and volunteers. The store also has 38 other part-time volunteers who donate their time to support the shop and the mission of the South Suburban Family Shelter.

The shop accepts donations Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will make arrangements to pick up furniture after it is viewed by staff.

One More Thing is doing well in our current economic times. While economics may contribute to some increase in sales as more consumers are buying resale, Korthauer notes that the shop has a good reputation. “We put our hearts and souls into this operation. We take ownership in the business and we know our customers by name,” said Korthauer.

The South Suburban Family Shelter has a second resale shop “Two One Things” located in Monee.
