Park Forest Area League of Women Voters Hosts Meeting on Privatization of Government Services on Wednesday, April 11, 2012


Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)–April 3, 2012–The League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area will host an educational meeting on the topic of Privatization of Government Services on Wednesday, April 11, at 7:00 PM at the Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard in Park Forest.  The joint south suburban LWV study committee, which includes members of the Park Forest Area, Homewood Flossmoor Area, and Palos-Orland Area Leagues of Women Voters, will present information from their research about privatization projects done by south suburban local governments.  In addition, Diane Williams, President/CEO of the Safer Foundation, a recognized expert on criminal justice issues, will speak on the issue of privatization of prisons.

This program is part of the national LWVUS study on Privatization of Government Services. The focus of this study is to develop policies and other parameters that governments – at any level – should consider when they are contemplating privatizing a service, an entity, or any function they are currently providing.

The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in the topic is encouraged to attend to learn more about this important issue.
