Free Gallery Tour at the Oriental Institute

Chicago, IL—(ENEWSPF)—April 11, 2012.  What do photography and archaeology have to do with each other? Learn how our understanding of the ancient past is altered with the introduction of modern technology with our special gallery tour! Join John Larson, Museum Archivist and Co-curator of Picturing the Past: Imaging and Imagining the Ancient Middle East, for a unique tour on Wednesday, April 25 at 12:15pm featuring the historic role photography has played in recording archaeological expeditions and discoveries, along with behind-the- scenes information on the Oriental Institute’s Photographic Archives, which contain more than 100,000 images ranging from the 1890s to the present day.

The event is free and open to the public.  No reservation is required.
