Sauk-Calumet Group of the Illinois Sierra Club to Discuss the Thorn Creek Nature Center at April 9 Meeting

Matteson, IL—(ENEWSPF)—April 1, 2012.  The Sauk-Calumet Group of the Illinois Sierra Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, April 9, at 7:15 p.m. at the Frankfort Public Library, 21119 Pfeiffer Rd. (just off Rt. 30).

The Thorn Creek Nature Center is the subject this month.  Friends of Thorn Creek will show slides of the flora and fauna and tell us about this south-side natural jewel. Thorn Creek Nature Preserve is a 985-acre oak-hickory woodland with the distinction of being the 5th largest dedicated Illinois Nature Preserve. It contains 3½ miles of trails and a small Nature Center on Monee Road in Park Forest.

Sierra Club meetings are free and open to the public.  People interested in enjoying outdoor activities, preserving the environment, and protecting the world in which we live, are encouraged to attend.  Be introduced to the wildlife of a South Suburban natural area.  For additional information, contact Patrick Coffey, Publicity Chair, at [email protected].
