Alsip, IL-(ENEWSPF)-The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) recently announced that Sertoma Centre, Inc. was accredited for a period of three years for the services & programs provided to individuals with disabilities. This latest accreditation marks the 12th consecutive Three-Year Accreditation outcome that the international accrediting commission has awarded to the Sertoma Centre.
This accreditation outcome represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization. It also shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the standards established by CARF. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process, and, has demonstrated (to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit) that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable. Gus van den Brink, Executive Director of Sertoma thanked his staff for their great work by stating, “The entire staff at Sertoma Centre has a part in making Sertoma the excellent organization it is and making a real difference in the lives of the individuals served.”
Sertoma Centre, Inc is a nonprofit, community service agency with two day facilities in Alsip, IL and a third facility in Matteson, IL that houses the Good as New Thrift Store and Training Centre, a Mental Health program and the Redwood Counseling & Wellness Centre. Sertoma Centre provides job training programs and services to more than 625 individuals with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities, and/or mental illness. These services include vocational evaluation, developmental training, community-based assessments, senior programming, work adjustment training, residential services, janitorial skill training, foster care, job placement services, supported employment, specialized services, school transition services, psychosocial rehabilitation, and a sheltered workshop program.
CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
