University Park, IL–(ENEWSPF)- The Scarecrow. The Tin Man. The Cowardly Lion. The Wicked Witch. And Dorothy

Some of the most memorable characters in American storytelling will come to life when “The Wizard of Oz” arrives at Governors State University Center for Performing Arts for one performance on Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m.

As presented by American Family Theater, “The Wizard of Oz” tells the timeless tale of Dorothy, a girl from Kansas who is swept away by a cyclone, lands in an enchanting land, meets three fantastic friends, and, after a series of thrilling adventures, is finally able to go home.

This production of “The Wizard of Oz” is perfect family entertainment, and includes new songs and special effects that young and old will enjoy. You can explore the land over the rainbow where dreams come true, and follow the Yellow Brick Road as Dorothy and her friends share their amazing journey.

Tickets for “The Wizard of Oz” are $12 to $17. To purchase tickets, or for further information, contact the GSU Center box office at www.centertickets.net or (708) 235-2222. The box office is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and two hours prior to performances.Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Student discounts are only available by phone or in person and require a valid school ID.
