Thursday, Sept. 17: Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) to Rally to Demand Superintendent McCarthy and Police Board Fire Detective Servin

CHICAGO –(ENEWSPF)—September 16, 2015. On Thursday, September 17th at 7 p.m., theBlack Youth Project 100 (BYP100) Chicago Chapter in coordination with Black Lives Matter Chicago, We Charge Genocide, and Rekia Boyd’s family, will lead a public rally outside of Chicago Police Department (CPD) Headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan Ave., to demand an end to police violence against all Black women and girls and to fire Detective Dante Servin; theCPD officer who was dismissed of all charges for murdering Rekia Boyd.

On August 20th, BYP100 shut down the monthly Independent Police Review Authority (IPRA) Hearing at Chicago Police Department Headquarters to demand an immediate firing of CPD officer Dante Servin. On September 16th, IPRA made a recommendation to fire Servin from Chicago Police Department. IPRA’s recommendation is a small step forward in firing Servin. IPRA’s recommendation may have not happened without the actions taken by BYP100, Rekia Boyd’s family, Black Lives Matter Chicago, We Charge Genocide, and the Chicago community.  BYP100 will continue to pressure CPD Superintendent Garry McCarthy, IPRA, and the Police Board until Servin is fired without pension.
