Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Since 1976, Freedom Hall has presented internationally acclaimed artists and entertainers in Chicago’s Southland, featuring the best in music, dance, and comedy. The 2018 – 2019 Freedom Hall Series continues this tradition with a variety of performances in the 287-seat Nathan Manilow Theatre.

The Freedom Hall Main Series opens on October 19, with the ultimate tribute to the supergroup Kool & The Gang, Hollywood Swinging, performing their party hits from the 70’s thru the 80’s.

On November 16, Corky Siegel takes the stage. He has earned an international reputation as one of the world’s great blues harmonica master and will be joined by vocal diva, Lynne Jordan and the red hot Chamber Blues, with rousing grand finale with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Blues icon, Sam Lay.

Back by popular demand on November 30, is an encore performance of Masters of Soul with a Holiday Twist, always a sellout at Freedom Hall! The concert is a celebration of the Motown hits from the Temptations – Gladys Knight & the Pips – Marvin Gaye – Smokey Robinson & the Miracles – Aretha Franklin – Four Tops – Diana Ross & Supremes and many more!

On February 15, Freedom Hall is honored to present Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and guitarist Raul Midón who has earned renown as one of music’s most distinctive and searching voices performs. His guitar playing is a syncopated, flamenco- and jazz-infused wonder in which bass, harmony and melodic lines fly from the fretboard in a way that seems to belie the fact that all the music is being produced by just two hands.

Ruthie Foster makes her debut at Freedom Hall on March 8. Ruthie Foster can burn down any stage with her combustible blend of soul, blues, rock, folk, and gospel. The small rural town of Gause, TX had no chance of keeping the vocal powerhouse to itself. The worship services at her community church and influences like Mavis Staples and Aretha Franklin created the foundation of her vocal capabilities which is unable to be contained within a single genre.

The Main Series concludes on April 12, withLean on Me: The Brotherhood of Rock and Roll.

PBS television stars (Under the Streetlamp) and former Jersey Boys castmates Michael Ingersoll and Christopher Kale Jones unite for an uplifting evening of inspirational rock anthems including “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” by The Righteous Brothers, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” by Frankie Valli, “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor, and “America the Beautiful” by Ray Charles. Presented by Artists Lounge Live.

Freedom Hall’s Matinee Theatre has performances on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 a.m. The matinee season kicks off with the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra on Tuesday, October 9. On November 13, award-winning dynamo Angela Ingersoll celebrates American icon Judy Garland, in Get Happy: Angella Ingersoll Sings Judy Garland as seen in her current PBS television special. Deck the Halls with Buddy Holly, a holiday celebration featuring Johnny Rogers, takes the stage on December 4. The Tony Awards meets Whose Line Is It Anyway? when Broadways’ Next Hit Musical is presented on February 12. Switchback, the award-winning duo of Marty McCormack and Brian Fitzgerald play traditional and original Celtic music on March 5. The matinee series concludes on April 9, with Broadway showstopper Chester Gregory featured in Higher and Higher: A Rock n’ Soul Shindig!
