AAA: July Gas Prices Continue to Fall

AURORA, Ill.—(ENEWSPF)–July 29, 2011- Gas prices throughout Illinois and Indiana continued to fall in July. Monthly average prices in Illinois reached $3.87, according to AAA Chicago’s most recent Fuel Gauge Report. The Illinois average for regular unleaded gasoline has decreased $.09 during the past month, but is still $1.05 higher than July 2010’s price.   

In northern Indiana, gas prices average $3.77, which is $.04 cents lower from June 2011 and up $1.03 from July 2010.

“While gas prices for Illinois and Chicago are still much higher than a year ago, they are starting to move in the right direction, which will be welcome news to consumers,” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago.

  • In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $4.08, which is down $.15 from last month and $1.11 higher than last year’s price-per-gallon.
  • In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.94 per gallon, which is a 9-cent decrease from June and up $1.07 from last year.         
  • In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.92 per gallon, which is 7 cents lower compared to last month and $1.08 higher than July 2010’s price.        
  • In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.91 per gallon, which is 10 cents lower than last month and up by $1.08 compared to this time last year.     
  • In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.90 per gallon, which is 11 cents lower than last month’s average and $1.07 higher than July 2010’s price.         
  • In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.88 per gallon, which is 11 cents lower compared to last month and $1.04 higher compared to last year.        
  • In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.65 per gallon, which is $.08 lower than June and an increase of $1.11 from last year.
  • In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.74 per gallon, which is 4 cents lower than last month and $1.00 higher than last year.
  • In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.75 per gallon, which is down $.03 compared to last month and up $1.05 from July 2010.
  • In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.71 per gallon, which is 8 cents higher than last month and $.99 higher than last year.
  • In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.74 per gallon, a decrease of 10 cents from June and $.97 higher than July 2010.
  • In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.71 per gallon, which is an increase of 1 cent from last month and $1.00 higher than July 2010’s price.
  • In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.76 per gallon, a 6-cent decrease from June’s average and a $1.01 increase from a year ago.
  • In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.80 per gallon, which is a two-cent increase from than last month and $1.07 higher than last year.
  • In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $3.72 per gallon, which is even from last month and $.99 higher compared to last year.
