“This victory is about important American principles: freedom and fairness. At its heart, marriage equality is about affording the same rights and responsibilities to all no matter whom we love. With the passage of this legislation, the House has rightfully acted to convey upon all committed couples and their families the dignity they have long deserved. I am proud of the House of Representatives’ historic vote today.”
