Beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, January 26, couriers will begin delivering packets of ballots from each of more than 500 Chicago public schools to Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) headquarters, with the union’s Rules & Elections Committee counting ballots that evening on proposed constitutional changes to the CTU constitution.

If passed, those constitutional changes would authorize the merger of the CTU and ChiACTS Local 4343, which represents educators at unionized charter schools. The CTU expects provisional results to be available some time before midnight on Friday, with final results that include counts for appropriately time-stamped but late-arriving mail-in retirees’ ballots to be available early next week.
