Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–March 4, 2013. Today, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth announced her cosponsorship of the Government Waste Reduction Act. The legislation would create a board tasked with making recommendations to root out waste in government. Each proposal from the board would be fast tracked and get an up-or-down vote from Congress.
“In order to reduce our debt it is necessary to do everything within our power to stop waste and fraud in government,” said Duckworth. “Through sequestration, Congress has chosen to cut the deficit by slashing our investments in education, transportation, and public health before eliminating billions of dollars of waste and fraud. Congress needs to pass the Government Waste Reduction Act so that we can reduce our national debt while continuing to invest in our future.”
