Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–April 14, 2016. Congresswoman Robin Kelly, (D) the only Member of the Illinois Congressional Delegation to serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement today on the second anniversary of the kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls in Chibok, Nigeria.

“Two years ago, the terrorist organization Boko Haram launched a cowardly attack in Chibok, abducting 276 school girls.  Today, we still don’t know the whereabouts or the status of the majority of these girls.  These terrorists have brought devastation and suffering to numerous communities across Northeastern Nigeria, abducting and forcing hundreds of children to do their bidding in Nigeria and in neighboring Cameroon.”

“As we mark this solemn anniversary, I remain committed to continuing to work with my colleagues to find these girls and end the reign of terror that Boko Haram has wrought on the people of Northeastern Nigeria.”

In March 2015, the House of Representatives unanimously passed Rep. Kelly’s legislation, H.Res. 53, which condemns Boko Haram for their cowardly attacks on the people of Northeastern Nigeria and supports the African Union’s efforts to combat Boko Haram.
