WASHINGTON, DC –(ENEWSPF)—January 27, 2015. Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) has been tapped to serve on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform for the 114th Congress.

Kelly will serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Information Technology. She will also sit on the Subcommittee on National Security.

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to  help address the management and operations of the federal government,” Kelly said. “I look forward to working with the Committee to reduce waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, promote our nation’s cyber and national security, ensure a competitive and cost-effective procurement process, and protect a strong postal service.”

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, chaired by Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), with Ranking Member Elijah Cummings (D-MD), is the main investigative body of the House of Representatives.  The Committee oversees federal government operations, including implementation of federal regulations, data quality and cybersecurity, and government contracting.  Congressman Will Hurd (R-TX) will serve as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Information Technology – marking the first time both the Chair and Ranking Member of a House Committee are both African American.
