Cook County Township- and Precinct-Level Election Results Now Online


Cook County, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Unofficial township- and precinct-level results for the March 20, 2012 Presidential Primary Election in suburban Cook County can now be viewed online at cookcountyclerk.com.

Select "view" from the Online Results column. Please note the download feature now allows you to get a Excel document with precinct and township data by race. 

Up to 3,600 late-arriving mail ballots are eligible to be counted if they were postmarked by March 19 and received by April 3, according to state statute. There are also up to 1,028 provisional ballots that will be counted if validated, a process that will begin tomorrow.

Here are a few highlights from Tuesday’s election:

  • All 1,673 suburban Cook County precincts opened on time.
  • Results were reported from 99 percent of precincts before 10 p.m.
  • Turnout for suburban Cook County was 23.5 percent, down from 43.3 percent in the 2008 Presidential Primary but up slightly from the low of 23.1 in 2000 (see chart below).
  • 53% of voters cast Democratic ballots; 46% cast Republican ballots (see chart below).
  • The townships with the highest number of Republican ballots cast were Wheeling (14,579), Palatine (10,484), Maine (9,866), Worth (9,860), and Orland (9,648).
  • Corrected: Mitt Romney won all 30 suburban Cook County townships.  

Results will be updated periodically as mail and provisional ballots are processed. The Clerk’s office has 21 days to certify the results.
