David Miller Files for Illinois Comptroller

Submits Nearly 20,000 Signatures

Dolton, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Democratic State Representative David Miller’s says he filed nearly 20,000 signatures on 1056 sheets for his bid to become Illinois’ next Comptroller.

“I am honored to have such incredible support so early on,” said Miller. “The Office of Comptroller may not be the most recognizable, but I think the excitement surrounding our campaign is a signal that voters know Illinois must get back on solid financial footing.”

Miller says one his priorities is restoring Illinois’ “rainy day fund.”

“Illinois needs leaders who will make responsible decisions with our money, not just do what’s politically expedient,” said Miller. “We know there will be tough times, but if we plan for the long term, we can soften the blow.”

Miller was first elected to the Illinois House in 2000 when he upset incumbent Willis Harris, winning by 50 votes.

“I learned early on that nothing trumps hard work and good ideas,” said Miller. “That’s why we’re doing this the old-fashioned way; knocking on doors from Dolton to Duqoin and McHenry to Metropolis, listening to voters’ concerns and sharing our plans.”

Miller currently represents the 29th District in the Illinois House. During his tenure in the House, he worked to overhaul the payday loan industry and predatory lending practices. He also favors bringing a third airport to the southland.

Miller has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Boston University and a doctor of dentistry from the University of Illinois. Miller grew up in Evanston and now lives with his wife Donna and their two sons, Daniel and Donovan, in Lynwood.
