Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Rep. Anthony DeLuca (D-80th) will host a free paper shredding event this Saturday, September 17. This will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at Bloom Plaza, 1020 Dixie Highway, Chicago Heights.

The event is free, but there is a limit of two boxes per car. Documents that contain personally identifiable information, such as bank statements, tax returns, bills, receipts, credit card statements, and outdated medical records, will be shredded. This will help people protect themselves from identity theft.

Those bringing items are asked to remove all staples, paper clips, and other bindings.

DeLuca’s office said in a statement, “During a recent Silver Beat presentation, Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s staff recommended that constituents shred sensitive documents, and not leave sensitive documents that contain personal information lying around the house.  They explained shredding sensitive documents is a proven way to cut down on IDENTITY THEFT, which is at an all time high, especially among our senior population.”

DeLuca’s office says the representative has been contacted numerous times asking if he will host a paper shredding event soon.

80th District State Representative Anthony DeLuca has been serving in the Illinois House since March, 2009.
