Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has endorsed Jesse Jackson Jr. in the 2nd congressional district race. Emanuel echoed some of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s reasoning behind supporting Jackson Jr., his role on the Appropriations Committee.
“As Illinois’ only member on the Appropriations Committee, Congressman Jackson has delivered for the people of our city an impressive list of accomplishments including USX redevelopment, rebuilding Wacker Drive, and extending Lake Shore Drive,” said Emanuel on a press release announcing his endorsement.
“These important projects produced much needed jobs for the people of Chicago,” the mayor continued. “Congressman Jackson is a progressive fighter who works hard on behalf of his constituents. His work on important matters like healthcare for all Americans, steadfast support of the President, and focus on job creation have earned him my support.”
The incumbent is facing former 11th District congresswoman Debbie Halvorson.
