MATTESON—(ENEWSPF)—April 3, 2017. More than 300 young people from Chicagoland attended Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s 4th annual Youth Job and Resource Expo on Saturday at Thornwood Township High School in Harvey.

“Too many of our young people are looking for work but simply can’t find jobs. The goal of this annual event is connect our young people one-on-one with resources and employers ready, willing and able to hire them,” said Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

Young men and women, between the ages of 15 and 24, applied for jobs, apprenticeships and internships with Nike, Jewel-Osco and nearly 40 other employers with active job openings. Organizations and agencies such as Aunt Martha’s and Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership also offered employment and job skills development resources. Prior to the Expo, Rep. Kelly sponsored a Job Readiness Boot Camp to help young people prepare resumes and practice interviewing skills.

Congresswoman Kelly hosts a youth job fair each spring to provide an opportunity for young people to apply for summer jobs and find employment and work skill resources.
