CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—May 15, 2011. The Illinois Alliance for Retired Americans and its coalition partners ADAPT, Citizen Action/Illinois and Move On will rally in protest against Congressman Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget proposals. The rally will take place on Monday, May 16 at 11 a.m. outside the Palmer House, 17 East Monroe Street, Chicago, where Congressman Ryan will be promoting his budget proposal.
According to the Illinois Alliance for Retired Americans, Representative Ryan’s proposed budget calls for the privatization of Medicare, guts the Medicaid program and implements fast-track cuts to Social Security.
Retirees are encouraged to participate in Monday’s rally to help tell Representative Ryan that slashing America’s safety net to give tax cuts to the rich is not the solution to fixing the deficit.
