IL Appellate Court Rules Rahm Emanuel Not Qualified to Run for Mayor of Chicago

CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—January 24, 2011. The Illinois Appellate Court reversed a lower court’s decision today and ruled that Rahm Emanuel is not a resident of Chicago. As a result, Emanuel is not qualified to run for mayor.

In the 42-page ruling, the Appellate Court opined that, “. . .we reverse the circuit court’s judgment, set aside the Board’s decision, and order that the candidate’s name be excluded (or, if necessary, removed) from the ballot for Chicago’s February 22, 2011, mayoral election.”

Emanuel has said that he will appeal today’s decision to the Illinois Supreme Court.
