Updated July 19, 2010 at 8:45 p.m. with additional information regarding July 24 movie screening at the Holiday Star Theater.

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—July 18, 2010. With another week of 90 degree days predicted, remember that there are plenty of things to do locally to help beat the heat. Nothing helps you cool off better than being in water, so head over to the Park Forest Aqua Center for a refreshing swim. Or, stop by the Park Forest Library where you can sit in the air conditioning and enjoy a good book — maybe about climbing Mount Everest, or some other ‘cool’ topic!

Instead of heating up the kitchen by cooking, order some spicy food from Subway, Taco Bell, or Shrimp Max as spicy food increases perspiration which cools the body as it evaporates. And please be sure to remember to check regularly on elderly, ill, and/or disabled relatives, neighbors and friends who live alone to be certain they are OK (a visit in person is better than a phone call). Remember that with Christmas in July Sales taking place in stores and television shopping networks, it won’t be long before the cold weather returns.

If your club, organization or local business will be holding activities or events in our community during the upcoming week, please send an e-mail to [email protected] with the details. Submission deadline is noon on Friday of each week.
