Jewel-Osco to Close Olympia Fields Store

Itasca, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Jewel-Osco issued the following press release today announcing the closing of the Olympia Fields store:

JEWEL-OSCO, a leading Midwest food and pharmacy retailer, announced the company will close its store at 2500 Lincoln Highway, in Olympia Fields, Ill., on Aug. 30, 2011.

The store’s pharmacy will close earlier, on July 15, 2011.  However, customers will have access to the store’s TCF Bank branch until Oct. 31, 2011.

The closure of the Olympia Fields location will impact approximately 80 associates; JEWEL-OSCO will work with their labor union to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.

The decision to close any store is difficult, because of the impact on the community.  However, in a highly competitive marketplace, JEWEL-OSCO must do what is best to ensure the current sustainability and future growth of the company as a whole.

The Olympia Fields store is closing after almost 23 years of operation, and JEWEL-OSCO would like to thank the store’s customers for their patronage.  The company also invites those customers to shop its other stores, including two close to the Olympia Fields location, 3220 Chicago Road, in South Chicago Heights, Ill., and 3153 W. 183rd St., in Homewood, Ill., where customers will find the same great prices, selection and service they have come to expect from JEWEL-OSCO.
