Street Sweeping

Elgin Sweeping Services is in town sweeping Village streets.

Field Operations

Pot holes and cracks on Orchard Drive, Westwood Drive and Lakewood Boulevard were hot patched recently.

B-boxes were repaired/replaced at 200 Wilson, at Indiana Park and at 135 Sauk Trail. Sanitary sewers were cleaned. Assistance was provided to the Water Plan for repairs to Well #1.

Water Plant

The staff repaired the meter at Well #1. Layne-Western will be coming into town within the next week or two to begin repairs on Well #6 and to seal and cap Well #7.

Recreation and Parks

Programs

The new July 4 (postponed to July 5) fireworks launch location at the end of the 400 foot boardwalk at Central Park Wetlands seemed to work out very nicely. While a little more work to transport all the gear to the end of the boardwalk, the staff from S&N Display Fireworks seemed very pleased with the location and logistics. A number of hand trucks and carts were provided to transport the material from their truck to the launch location. The new location proved to be safer and more reliable due to the “high and dry” nature of this small island in the middle of the wetlands. Most accounts from those present were that the show was very well received.

Freedom Hall Remodeling

Work continues on concrete repair and patching in the theater in preparation for painting and re-carpeting. The new seating is currently scheduled to be installed in late August.
