Mayor Emanuel Announces City To Host Watch Party For Jackie Robinson West Little League World Series Game On Monday Evening

Watch Party Will Again be Held at Jackie Robinson Park

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–August 18, 2014.  Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced that the City of Chicago will again host a watch party on Monday evening, August 18 for friends, families and neighbors of the Jackie Robinson West All Stars for their upcoming game against Cumberland, Rhode Island in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

“Jackie Robinson West has shown us before they know how to come back and dig their heels in when they’re down — and I have faith that they’ll do it again when they take the field again Monday,” said Mayor Emanuel. “These events have been embraced by the community, so we’re bringing back the jumbotron to Jackie Robinson Park to allow Chicagoans to watch the game together on Monday.”

The watch party will again be held at Jackie Robinson Park. The game will be shown live on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. in the outdoor area of the park.

The Jackie Robinson West All Stars — comprised of 11- and 12-year-olds from South and Southwest side communities such as Auburn Gresham, Englewood, Chatham, Morgan Park and Washington Heights — advanced to the Little League World Series with a come-from-behind win over New Albany, Indiana.

Jackie Robinson Park is located at 10540 South Morgan Park Street. For optimal viewing, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and coolers, but park rules apply and alcohol is not permitted.
