Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Word just in from the American Islamic Association in Frankfort, "Chicago Hilal Committee announced Ramadan will start from Monday August 1st. Taraweeh Prayer will today at 9:50 after Isha at the AIA Masjid."
The Chicago Hilal Committee makes the official declaration based on lunar observations throughout the Chicagoland area. The committee posted the following earlier this evening, with the earliest posting at the bottom:
Ramadan Mubarak! Ramadan starts tonight, July 31st. The first day of Ramadan will be tomorrow, Monday, August 1st.
8:37pm – Ramadan Mubarak! Ramadan will start tomorrow, Monday, August, 1st.
8:10pm – We have received multiple sighting reports. The committee is in the process of authenticating these reports. We will update as we get more information.
7:15pm – The Chicago Hilal committee will meet on Sunday, July 31, 2011 (Shaban 29, 1432) to determine the start of Ramadan. The 1st of Ramadan will be on either Monday, August 1st or Tuesday, August 2nd. The 1st update is expected to be around 7:30 PM CDT.
