Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– March 29th marks the first day that Park Forest Baseball teams can officially begin practice. The league has seventeen teams that will have 3 weeks to get their team ready for Opening Day on April 17th.

The league is excited to have five Shetland (T-Ball) teams for ages 4-6, which is the largest number of teams in several years. Rounding out the rest of the league, there are 3 teams each in the Pinto (7-8), Mustang (9-10), Bronco (11-12), and Pony (13-14) divisions. The total count for the league is 218 players. Plans are also being made to have tryouts for a Colt team, which has players from 15-16 years of age.

The Opening Day festivities and games for Park Forest Baseball will be held on Saturday, April 17th. The day begins with a parade from Village Hall to Central Park. Once again, this parade will be led by Jammer of the Joliet Jackhammers. Once at the park Dan Pasqua, the scheduled speaker and a former Chicago White Sox player, will address the teams and fans as well as the Village Trustees present. The fundraiser prizes will be awarded to the top three sellers, who sold 34, 10, and 5 boxes respectively. Several drawings will be held for the players and then the official "First Pitch" will be thrown. Shortly after the ceremonies, the Shetland teams will start off the games for the day and games will continue throughout the day.

This season we will be raffling off a signed Chicago White Sox jersey, bat, and ball. Tickets will be sold throughout the entire season and the drawing will be held at our season-end picnic on August 7th. The winner need not be present. The proceeds will be designated for 2011 Player Training and Development.

Whether you have a family member playing or just enjoy baseball, come on out and support our teams. We have a great concession stand and a wonderul atmosphere.

See you at the park!!
