Park Forest Crews at Work Repairing Several Water Main Breaks

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—September 14, 2011.  Earlier today, several water mains broke resulting in discolored water for residents in some areas of Park Forest.

In these circumstances, the first step to repairing any water main break is to contact JULIE, a corporation that provides assistance in preparation for safe digging.  Workers from JULIE were expected to start the process of identifying underground utility lines at approximately 4 p.m. so that Public Works crews can safely dig and repair the breaks.

At this time, a boil order has not been issued — as water pressure is adequate and water considered safe.  Discolored water following a water main break is normal and can occur up to 24 hours after the main has been repaired.  It is recommended that residents do not wash clothes over the next 24 hours, if they have experienced any discoloration.

The Village will continue to monitor this situation and will inform residents if it changes.

The Village is also currently investigating the cause of the breaks.  For further updates, please check www.villageofparkforest.com
