Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Park Forest Fire Department released a report on its weekly activity for the week March 5 through 11, 2017.

The report follows.

The total responses were: 62 (fire/service = 16, EMS = 46).

Training Activities

On Monday and Tuesday, March 6 and 7, shift members spent the morning completed pre-plan training. These drills assist members in becoming familiar with Village buildings in case of an emergency and included a walk-thru of various high-rise buildings within Park Forest.

In the afternoon shift members focused their training efforts on specialized rescue equipment.

On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, March 8, 9, and 10, the department hosted Sarah Gura of The Self-Care Path. Sarah presented the topic of firefighter behavioral health and occupational stress. This topic is part of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation “Firefighters Life Safety Initiatives.”

On Friday evening, March 10, Captain Tilley presented a refresher course on firefighter basic skills for members of the POC division.

Fire Prevention Bureau Activities

Members of the Fire Prevention Bureau have conducted 17 inspections since March 1st including the majority of the group homes located in the Village.

Final approval for build out of the Makers Lab space was given during the week of March 5 through 11.

Installation of the new residential sprinkler system at 175 Indianwood was completed and is awaiting connection to the fire pump to complete the system.
