Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Three candidates for election to the Park Forest Village Board face challenges to their place on the ballot Tuesday.

eNews Park Forest received official notice from the Village of Park Forest that the Municipal Officers Electoral Board will convene two meetings on January 4, 2011, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The 10 a.m. meeting will hear a challenge by incumbent Gary Kopycinski against challenger and newcomer Carla LeVeaus. Kopycinski alleges that LeVeaux did not include a "properly-filed" Statement of Economic Interests with her petition packet. A review by ENEWSPF confirms that LeVeaux’s packet does include a Statement of Economic Interests, but it is missing the seal of the Cook County Clerk’s office, indicating that it was not filed with the Cook County Clerk.

The 2 p.m. meeting will hear two challenges: Brown v. Ostenburg and Ostenburg v. Brown. Brown alleges that Ostenburg does not have the required number of valid signatures to appear on the ballot, while Ostenburg alleges that Brown has only 48 valid signatures on the 99 pages he submitted in his packet.

Seventy-seven signatures were required to be on the ballot.

The morning hearing will be chaired by Mayor John Ostenburg and will include Village Clerk Sheila McGann and Trustee Ken Kramer. The afternoon hearing will be chaired by Trustee Bonita Dillard and will include Village Clerk Sheila McGann and Trustee Ken Kramer.

Both hearings will occur in the Board Room, Park Forest Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive, Park Forest. The hearings are open to the public.
