Park Forest Village Board Establishes 2010 Meeting Calendar

Meetings held on three Mondays of each month and on one Saturday

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Park Forest Village Board is scheduled to adopt its 2010 meeting calendar when it meets on December 14.

The Board’s regular meeting schedule calls for a Rules Committee meeting to be held from 10 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month. The meetings are designed as opportunities for citizens to meet with the Board and discuss any issues that are of concern to them. In January, July, and September, the meetings will be on the second Saturday due to the holidays of New Year’s Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

Regular Rules Committee meetings are sessions where issues are discussed but are not voted on. Most of the agenda items subsequently are acted upon at a later scheduled Village Board meeting. Rules Committee meetings are held on the first Monday of each month and for the first-half of the meeting time on the fourth Monday of each month. The only exception for 2010 will be in September when the meeting will be held on the first Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday. At Rules Committee meetings, citizens are allowed to comment only on the topics discussed and only at a special timeslot toward the close of the meeting.

Regular Village Board meetings, those at which action is taken, are held on the second Monday of each month and for the second-half of the meeting on the fourth Monday. Citizens are allowed to address the Board on any subject at a specified timeslot early on the agenda, but must not exceed five minutes in doing so.

The calendar to be adopted by the Board also calls for Village Hall to be closed during 2010 on January 1 for New Year’s Day, on January 18 for the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, on May 31 for Memorial Day, on July 2 for Independence Day, on September 6 for Labor Day, on November 25 and 26 for the Thanksgiving Day holiday, and on December 23 and 24 for Christmas Eve and Christmas.
