Washington, D.C.-(ENEWSPF)- Congresswoman Robin Kelly is ready for the formal impeachment process, declaring in a statement last week, “We — the servants of the people — have an obligation to act.”

We fully support our U.S. Representative in this effort, which, according to her statement, she does not take lightly. Knowing Congresswoman Kelly, I believe that she proceeds in this inquiry fully realizing the gravity, seriousness, and unfortunate necessity of action at this time.

Congresswoman Robin Kelly, member of the House National Security Oversight Subcommittee. She released the following statement concerning her vote to formalize the impeachment investigation rules and processes:

“Today, the U.S. House of Representatives formalized the process for our ongoing impeachment investigation into President Trump.

“As a student of history, I firmly believe that our Founding Fathers were deeply and rightfully concerned about this exact situation. In our founding document – the U.S. Constitution – they gave us a process to redress these concerns and protect our great nation.

“Today, we are using that Constitutionally-enshrined process at a moment of national crisis. The President is actively and aggressively abusing his powers for personal and political gain to the detriment of U.S. interests and our national security.

“President Trump’s actions are a betrayal of our shared American values and a direct threat to our national security. He and his Administration continue to be a corrupting influence on the norms and institutions that have made America great and a beacon of freedom and democracy.

“We – the servants of the American people – have an obligation to act. We have an obligation to protect our great nation from all enemies, including domestic and internal threats like a corrupt, power-abusing President.

“I urge my colleagues in the House and Senate: Think about your legacy. When the history books are written, which side do you want to be on? Do you want to be listed as someone who appeased a President who abuses his power and betrays our national security, or do you want to be listed amongst those Americans who stood tall and put country before party?”

It should be noted that Congresswoman Robin Kelly serves on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform and its National Security Subcommittee and has attended a number of witness depositions.
