Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—December 12, 2013. Congresswoman Robin Kelly today applauded members of the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission for voting in favor of the Illiana Expressway, a 47-mile expressway connecting I-55 in Illinois to I-65 in Indiana.
“The expressway has cleared another essential hurdle,” Kelly said. “Thanks to the foresight of the NIRPC and the Metropolitan Planning Organization in October, Indiana and Illinois stand united in support of the Illiana. We can now move forward with submitting building plans to the Federal Highway Administration for final approval.”
Rep. Kelly said the roadway will promote economic development in the area and bring tens of thousands of jobs to the Chicago Southland and Northwest Indiana.
“The expressway will help the entire region realize its true growth potential,” she said.
