UPDATED November 29, 2012.  Event time changed from 4 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—November 28, 2012.

Robin Kelly will formally announce her intent to run for the Illinois 2nd Congressional seat on Sunday, December 2 at 1:15 p.m. at Mr. Benny’s Restaurant, 20857 S. Cicero Avenue, Matteson.  The event is open to the public.

Kelly is a 25-year public servant from the State of Illinois and currently holds the post of Chief Administrative Officer of Cook County. She brings to this office a wealth of experience creating cost-efficient yet effective programs to serve the public interest. Known for making the people of Illinois her top priority, Robin energetically applies this commitment to her new role in Cook County Government.

As Chief of Staff for the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office from 2007 to 2011, Robin helped turn the $17 billion agency around by improving efficiencies, making the office more accessible to people throughout Illinois, and demanding stronger ethical guidelines.

Prior to being tapped as Chief of Staff, Robin defied skeptics by challenging a 10-year incumbent Illinois State Representative and was elected to the Illinois General Assembly in 2002. She served in the state’s House of Representatives from 2002 to 2007, representing Chicago’s south suburbs in the 38th District.

As a State Representative, Robin continued to be a strong, effective advocate for Illinois residents. She sponsored numerous bills protecting victims of consumer fraud, supporting economic development, and improving mass transit. She also supported landmark legislation to protect victims of domestic violence.
