Senators Kirk, Franken Put Bipartisan Beer Bet on Blackhawks-Wild Series

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–May 2, 2014.  Today, U.S. Senators Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) and Al Franken (D-Minn.) placed a friendly wager on the Blackhawks-Wild Stanley Cup Playoffs Series. The puck drops at the first game in Chicago later tonight.

In true Midwest spirit, the two senators agreed to bet a six-pack of local craft beer from their home states of Illinois and Minnesota.

“The Blackhawks have a winning tradition here in Illinois – and the Minnesota Wild are certainly no match for the ‘Hawks, who have won two championships in the past four years,” Senator Kirk said. “I look forward to enjoying a Minnesota craft beer courtesy of Senator Franken after we issue his team a crushing defeat on our path to the Stanley Cup.”

“Minnesota is truly the State of Hockey—and for good reason,” said Senator Franken. “From the time our kids start walking, and sometimes even before, they’re lacing up and hitting the ice. The Wild have stormed in to the playoffs this year, looking to win their first Stanley Cup. It’s going to be a great series against the Blackhawks, and when we win, I look forward to enjoying an ice cold Illinois beer.”
