Sertoma Centre, Inc. is Named a Recipient of 2013 Abby Foundation Grant

Alsip, IL –(ENEWSPF)—September 4, 2013. Sertoma Centre, Inc. was one of four organizations named as a grant recipient at the 28th Annual Women Together Luncheon held August 16 at the Tinley Park Convention Center. The non-profit social service agency serving more than 725 individuals with disabilities was pleased to be awarded this funding from the Abby Foundation which supports the needs of women and children in the southwest suburbs.

Sertoma Centre requested funds from the Abby foundation to support women participating within the Mental Health Services IPS (Individual Placement and Support) program in order to enhance their ability to secure meaningful employment as well as job training skills. Several of these women would like to earn their GED certificates and others are in need of professional attire for interviews and work experiences.

The grant awarded to Sertoma Centre will allow them to assist women within the IPS program to gain confidence in their ability to be employed by having the necessary education and putting their best foot forward in professional and appropriate attire. Sertoma Centre and Mental Health Services Program are extremely grateful to the Abby Foundation, their Board of Directors, and the Grant Committee for this opportunity.

Sertoma Centre, Inc. is a nationally-accredited, not-for-profit agency that provides services for more than 725 individuals with developmental, physical and emotional disabilities, and/or mental illness.   For more information, to schedule a tour, volunteer or to make a donation, please contact Amy Chmura, Director of Advancement and Communications, Sertoma Centre, 4343 West 123rd Street, Alsip, IL 60803.
