Storm Recovery Update: 223 Homes Still Without Power in Park Forest

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- As of noon on the 4th of July, village officials report that 223 homes in Park Forest are still without power. This is down from a village high 5,400 homes and businesses since the storm hit Monday.

That number was reduced to 4,000 by the end of Tuesday. As of Wednesday, there were still 2,900 homes without power.

ComEd reported three different crews working in Park Forest alone. One of the crews was expected to bring about 300 homes back online, another 200, and a third crew was expected to bring another 1,400 homes back online Wednesday.

That effort left about 900 homes still in the dark.

Officials report that the remaining 223 homes still without power in Park Forest are associated with three different electric feeders. Crews were working on one site that would restore 27 homes, another feeder that should restore an additional 149 homes by 6 p.m. today.

The last electric feeder issue to be repaired is expected to restore power to the remaining 47 homes by midnight tonight, officials report.

Rumors circulating that ComEd would not be working July 4 are false. Several hundred ComEd vehicles with their crews remain at the temporary Command Center that was established earlier this week at the Matteson Holiday Inn, officials report.

There were approximately 90,000 homes without power across the Southland as a result of Monday’s storms.

Residents are asked to keep watch on elderly and infirm neighbors who may be in need of assistance.
