Matteson, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Congresswoman Robin Kelly, the Ranking Member of IT subcommittee, released this statement concerning President Trump’s long-awaited cybersecurity Executive Order:

“President Trump’s cybersecurity Executive Order is a long-overdue first step, but it needs to be more than words on paper. As the Administration makes these commitments, key cybersecurity positions in the White House and federal agencies, including the Federal CIO, are still vacant.

We cannot continue to just talk about updating our IT infrastructure, investing in our IT workforce, and enhancing our national security; we need to act.

Right now, we are working in an aggressive and bipartisan way to modernize our government’s woefully outdated IT infrastructure, strengthen our nation’s technology workforce and enhance our cybersecurity. But, we need a real commitment from this White House and from appropriators to make this work a reality.”

Congresswoman Kelly is a Democratic co-sponsor of the Modernizing Government Technology Act (HR 2227) and the sponsor of the Connect to Government Act (HR 2331.)
