Water Flow Testing and Hydrant Flushing to Be Done This Week in Park Forest

Water flow tests to be conducted Wednesday, September 19

Hydrant flushing to take place on September 20 and 21

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—September 18, 2012.  Every 10 years the Village of Park Forest’s Fire Protection System is reviewed by the Insurance Services Office. Part of their analysis is focused on the Village’s capacity to deliver water should a fire occur. To make this determination they will be conducting flow tests throughout the Village all day on Wednesday, September 19th.

Public Works will then carry out hydrant flushing on September 20th and 21st.

This testing may cause discolored water for a few days which is caused by iron/rust. This discolored water is not a health threat, but it is recommended not to wash laundry during this period.

Residents can let the faucets run until the water clears up. If the water does not clear up within 5-10 minutes, you should wait several hours for the main to clear before running your system again. Do not use the hot water during periods of high discoloration.

For questions or additional information, please call the Park Forest Public Works Department at 708-503-7702.
