Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- On Thursday, Oct. 6, the Department of Public Works will perform a major water main repair at the corner of Park Street and Westwood Drive. Both Park Street and Westwood Drive will be closed throughout the day.

Residents within the areas bounded by Orchard to the west, Westwood to the north, Indianwood to the South, and the eastern Village limits may have disruptions in there water service between the hours of 8 and 5. Garden House and Courts J-18 and J-19 will have no water for those hours. For those areas only, Public Works will be issuing a precautionary boil order through the end of the day on Friday, Oct.7. This is simply to ensure you that the water is free from contaminants when service is restored, and is not an indication that water samples have failed any chemical testing.

As a result of this temporary disruption in service, your water may become temporarily discolored during this work and shortly after completion. There are no known health risks associated with consuming discolored water caused from iron (rust) in the pipes, but Public Works recommends that you refrain from using discolored water until it runs clear. It is also recommended that you not wash clothes when discolored water is possible.

If your laundry becomes discolored, keep the items wet and pick-up a free bottle of Red-B-Gone at Village Hall.
