We present Robert McCray, candidate for Village Trustee.

His statement follows:

Rob McCray and his wife, Alicia, have lived and enjoyed life in Park Forest for over 40 years.

Rob is a retired Manager from the USPS. He is proud to be completing his third term as Trustee and is running with the trust and support of you as voters. He is eager get back to the work that lies ahead. But, if anyone tells you that local governance is easy, raise a jaundiced brow. Competing with your colleagues on nearby town boards over who can defer more debt than the other, is its own form of Russian roulette. We could not have predicted our current circumstances, especially the very slow State payments. We are in difficult times. Those you elect to public service need to understand expenses, debt, and taxes, and that Dollar Store sales tax income in no way balances even used car sales tax. Communication and collaboration are the skill sets of our present and our future. As noted earlier, Robert looks forward to this challenge. During this difficult time, he continues to identify and represent the upbeat and positive facets of living in Park Forest. We have strong cultural programming, and even have a street named for the breadth of our commitments the arts. We have celebrated and highly recognized schools, including a highly recognized charter high school. Every sector of town has a well-maintained neighborhood park and our park system is one of our best assets. For outdoor enthusiasts, you can bike to Joliet. He continues to represent Park Forest on a regional public safety board. Robert is looking forward to the challenges ahead in this third term as your Trustee, and both appreciates and seeks your vote.
