Matteson, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The following is a statement from the Village of Matteson:
On August 8, Cook County Judge Thomas J. Condon issued a ruling regarding the Village of Matteson’s request to immediately close Lincoln Mall due to structural, fire and safety code violations. Below is a statement from the Village of Matteson.
“We are pleased with the court’s decision today. The court continued the matter for seven days to August 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. and ordered the defendant to present to the Village a comprehensive remediation plan no later than noon on August 15, 2013.
The order also requires Lincoln Mall Holdings, LLC to deposit $100,000 cash into an escrow account by noon on August 15, 2013, to be drawn upon by the Village at its sole discretion only to partially secure remediation of the Lincoln Mall. This is exactly the same request the Village made of the mall owner on July 26, at which time he declined to do so.
We felt the Judge was sensitive, as we are, to the plight of the tenants and business owners who are the innocent victims in this situation. We hope the mall owner will comply with this order so the dangerous conditions can be resolved.”
