Marian Forensics 2nd in State For Group Interpretation

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Following a third-place finish at the Homewood-Flossmoor Sectional on Saturday, March 21, Marian Catholic’s Group Interpretation finished second in the state at the IHSA state finals on March 27-28.

The production of Truman Capote’s “My Side of the Matter” included cast members Chris Skurka (senior), Molly Nunn (junior), Jaime Patriarca (junior, Park Forest), Julie Zielinski (senior), Kiayla Jackson (sophomore), Adam King (sophomore), Jon Williamsen (junior), Conor Keane (sophomore) and Martin Kudra (sophomore). Directed by Mark Donaway , Steve Guillermo and Don Calgaro, the group finished only behind Thornwood High School ’s rendition of “The Bluest Eye.”

Standout performers at the competition were selected as members of the All-State Cast, in which four of five preliminary judges nominate an individual for an outstanding performance. Marian students elected to this elite group were Skurka, Nunn, Patriarca, Jackson and Williamsen.

Amazing Race ’09

The Amazing Race

On Wednesday April 1st Marian Catholic hosted 7th graders from 10 different Catholic grade schools to participate in the annual Amazing Academic Race.  The students work in team to complete a series of challenges involving science, math, speech, creative writing and the Model UN.  The Amazing Race is a full day of activities culminating in lunch and an awards ceremony.
