Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Committee for Non-Partisan Local Government in Park Forest is preparing for the upcoming Village election. Scheduled for April 7, there are three Village Trustee seats open and two six-year seats open on the Library Board and one unexpired term.

The first candidates’ forum is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Village Hall. This forum will be sponsored by the League of Women Voters. Kiwanis and Rotary of Park Forest will sponsor two forums respectively. Dates and times for these forums are still being scheduled.

The Friends of the Library will sponsor a forum on Sunday, March 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Library. Closing out the forums, the Park Forest Cooperatives will sponsor a forum on March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Village Hall.

Non-partisanship has been a tradition in Park Forest since the Village incorporated in 1949. In 1955, the Committee for Non-Partisan Local Government in Park Forest was established as a not-for-profit organization. The all-volunteer committee works toward two goals. First, the committee works to make it convenient for any legally qualified resident to run for public office at little expense, regardless of race, creed, sex, age, or political party. Second, the committee works to give Park Forest voters the opportunity to hear all candidates and ask them questions at open. meetings.
