One Library, One Book

to-kill-a-mockingbird.jpg Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Park Forest Public Library, which serves the communities of Park Forest and Olympia Fields, will be offering a program called "One Library, One Book" beginning in September and continuing through March, 2008. The book chosen is To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee’s 1960 novel examining the injustice of racism in 1930’s American South. The book, highly relevant at the time it was published, continues to spark interest and discussion today.

The Library has plenty of copies. Program organizers hope people will read and talk about the book — with friends and neighbors as well as at events being offered throughout the Village and Olympia Fields.

The program will kick off Tuesday September 11, 2007, at 7:00 pm at the Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard, with Miranda Joebgen reading the first chapter of the book as the character of Scout.  A discussion and refreshments will follow.

Other "One Library, One Book" activities planned at the Library include:

A book discussion, Saturday September 22 at 2:00 pm

Film screenings, Tuesday September 25 at 2:30 and 6:30 pm and Saturday September 29 at 10 am; 12:15 pm and 2:15 pm

Film discussions, Sunday, September 30 at 2:30 pm and Tuesday, October 9 at 7:00 pm.
