Park Forest Baseball Thinking Spring

pf-baseball-logo.jpgPark Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The 2008 Park Forest Baseball season is just around the corner! Many enhancements to the program will take place this coming season, with the most exciting one being three clinics run entirely by the Chicago White Sox training facility coaching staff. They will be held on three Sundays in February and March at the gym at Forest Trail and each clinic will have a specific focus: Hitting, Fielding, and Pitching/Catching/Throwing. These clinics will give our players the opportunity to learn new techniques from professional coaches and improve their skill level. As soon as the dates are confirmed they will be listed on our website: www.ParkForestBaseball.org. Additional clinics will be conducted by the league managers on Sundays beginning January 13 and running thru April 6 at the Forest Trail gym.

This season the Shetland t-ball division will accept 4-year olds into the program. This will give them an early introduction to the sport and an additional year in this division to learn the needed skills. We feel this will help them in being ready for the Pinto division, where regulation games are played. Another change being made is the planned addition of dugouts to the fields. We have a parade on Opening Day, which will be led by the mascot of the Windy City Thunderbolts, Boomer. After the parade prizes will be awarded to the three players selling the most candy bars. The prizes are a Nintendo Wii system, a Nintendo DS, and a IPOD Nano.

At the end of the season a picnic is held for the players and their families. Drawings for donated prizes, participation trophies, and a dunk tank are just a few of the activities held that day.

Registration begins in January at the Baseball Building located at 54 Westwood, next to the Lain Sullivan Funeral Home. The dates are Friday, January 11th and 18th from 7 PM – 9 PM and Saturday, January 12th, 19th, and 26th from 10 AM – 1 PM. The remaining sessions on February 16th, March 1st, and March 8th will take place at Freedom Hall from 10 AM – 1 PM. The candy fundraiser will begin on January 11th and run through March 29th. Picture day is scheduled for April 18th and Opening Day is April 19th. Our website has the fee schedule and all pertinent information listed on it and is continually updated.

Any business interested in being a sponsor can email any of the listed officers on the website and further information can be given.
