Park Forest Police Announce Arrest of Murder Suspect

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Park Forest Police Department issued a press release today announcing the arrest of an alleged murder suspect in connection with the May 27th, 2006, shooting murder of Pierre Stacey.  The press release follows:

Pierre Stacy was shot and murdered on the evening of May 27th, 2006, in front of his home, in the Eastgate neighborhood of Park Forest.

Today, January 4, 2007, 16 year old, Jamon M. Davis of Montgomery, Illinois, formerly of Oakwood Street, Park Forest was charged with 1st Degree Murder for shooting Stacey to death.

Park Forest Police Department Detectives along with members of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (SSMCTF) conducted an intensive multi-agency investigation during the last seven months.  Yesterday, January 3, 2007, investigators executed several search warrants in Park Forest and Montgomery, obtaining evidence critical to the investigation.  Three individuals involved in the incident were taken into custody by days end, including one subject who currently resides in Merrillville, Indiana.  All subjects were interviewed by Major Crimes Task Force Investigators.

The Cook County States Attorney’s Felony Review Unit for the 6th District, charged Davis, who was fifteen at the time of the Murder, as an adult according to the Illinois Automatic Transfer Statutes.  The other two individuals who were with Davis at the time of the shooting were not changed at this time.

Park Forest Detectives learned that the murder stemmed from ongoing physical conflicts between two groups of young men from different local neighborhoods who attend Rich East High School in Park Forest.   The murder occurred in response to a fist fight involving these two factions two days earlier.

Jamon M. Davis appeared at a Felony Bond hearing at the Markham Court House this morning and received a bond of one million dollars.   He is currently being held in the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center at 1100 S. Hamilton in Chicago.
